Forum: GratefulDead Subject: St. Stephen's Alligators free: Caution advised! ~ 30~

A heart that's never been broken beats too quietly... Eyes that haven't shed a tear pondering "What's Become Of The Baby" in the original mix with Garcia's vibratto vocals captured in crystal clarity can't dance with the devil in the pale moonlight. A man who's really hungry, not just ready for supper, but famished enough to eat Kaylaberry pies and a bunch of green bananas won't be ready for supper, or say no more drugs for weak and weary, who seek to feel cheery on a chilly midnight, dreary until there came a remedy, to stop the belly achin' and breaking down my chamber door. one banana, two banana, three banana four, olive green bananas ye shall have to eat some more! The current draconian prohibition laws were not in the Constitution or Declaration of Independence until architects of war had the power to forge a generation of men to be unquestioningly expendable pawns in their game. All major conflicts from the 1898 Spanish-American War onward were stirred up from a crock of corruption that turned George Washington's sacred truths and Thomas Jefferson's unalienable rights into lies and distorted facts. Our Founding Fathers saw fit to build the greater purpose of our USA upon the Bill of Rights which guarenteed every citizen the freedom to choose, whether it is nobler to live or die with our own conscience free to decide as individuals what we smoked, ate or drank in the persuit of happiness! That is the zeitgeist of the Grateful Dead especially in the '60s to early '70s when they led the way for the bands to take charge, loosely speaking, of their venues, record production, and crucially in the Dead's case - record and ticket distribution directly to their fans which practically formed their own country without borders - that's how they not only functioned outside of the normal restricting mind set that says a government or record label is more real than what the artist with a similar and less bulky, parasitic structure with layers of non-essential personnel bluffing people into believing if these official labels and titles weren't employed to represent the artists they'd get nowhere. Essentially the US government does the same thing... taxes are spent mostly to keep the the bluff going, it's so obvious but people don't haver the balls to do it themselves. You know what? Any smart punk rocker got the idea to DIY from JGB, this was beyond the fan club. We'll sharpen our pencils and draft our own contracts with the companies that sell guitars, amps whatever. Big mystery, solved and cut loose. The big Whigs got scared... drugs and rock and roll free the mind, stimulate the brain pan into cooking up it's own hash browns... c'mon man, I don't need to pay someone ten bucks to parboil and then grill a 25 cent potato, get real. Once in a while but, that was what put "hippies" on the map, their own system was dependent on being babysat by 100 guys 2,000 miles away with teir own agenda, that even a mook from the streets of Detroit -"Iggy Pop" - figured it out, got very stoned on every illegal subatnce and what happened to him? He's still DIY, the guy that showed Johnny Rotten how to do it. Their style might alienate Dead Heads and visa versa, but you know what? You're the same. Get it going. Time for being petty is so over. Remember that our Democrat- elected President Wilson promised we would not be dragged into war with countries we had no beef with just to pad the pockets of the investors to simplify what happened in 1898. In 1916 prior to the scheduled meatgrinding of cold sober soldiers, drugs were made illegal by a non-elected board. These measures include the dismantling of the Barbary Coast and Block 16 of Las Vegas - which existed for young men to get it on if they so deaired. All that ended when WWI began, and Wilson was sandbagged and people kinda went what? but marched off like there was no alternative to yes sir no sir where do I die sir, who do I kill, and thanks for taking away all privileges and giving us a phony fake reason to "just say no" or go to jail or die because the black markets unregulated. Otherwise Janis Kimi and Jerry the 1st day they did this shit, OK? Figure it out. I'm just gonna cut to the chase in this final draft, because the phony system is so obviopus why do I even need to you why drugs are illegal and why they are "bad"? Bacon is bad for you, so take that away, before we die of obesity which these mooks (dumb asses) who think they're hot and the Dead are not, they are not taught common sense or self-reliance, they've never read Thomas Paine, and they George Bush is some kind of a hero for putting some kids and old men who came from dirt floor huts in Afghanistan in Cuban cages for random torture. This is a hero? Anybody who believes that is a pawn in their game. I don't care if this post goes on for 5 pages and no one reads it and there's typos even after this last (hopefully) installment. Everything I'm sayng is pretty much true, and intended to inform not enflame; open minds, not offend them. The Grateful Dead are greater heroes of our heritage than the talk show turkeys ever admit, because of the percieved taint by drugs. Nit-picking critics who aren't ready for side 2 of Live Dead and are amazed that side 1 (Dark Star) lasts a whole album side, how do these people get through an entire day? Little alarms going off every 6 minutes so time won't go on uninterrupted? That's why I haven't a cell phone yet. Reach me by ESP or dragon-fly, send a telegram if it's a sudden need to communicate. But I'm not a telephone junkie, which so many critics of drug abuse are. I mean, who's abusing what. Gee whiz, somebody think, "THINK". It's surprising what can happen. Picture Jerry Garcia throwing that jazz cigarette on the ground after being harrassed. He promised to never play that venue again, and he delivered on his word by not crawling back, he walked away from a fool and his money. That's Garcia for ya. In the persuit of freedom, Garcia was a great man. The seperation of man and state was thwarted and we are a mass of tax-paying semi-slaves kept bound in sobriety with bones thrown to us that are heavily controlled such as alcohol and tobacco. And some guy with a name tag is telling Garcia to leave the grounds or put out that joint. Wise up buddy, this is not a dangerous drug. This is pot. (Jerry) The gateway to hell, so run and hide, leave us alone, fascist liberals are no better than radical conservatives. Shut up and turn on. Drop out, there's never been a better time to drop out. You pipsquuek brain dead paper pushers are telling Jerry Garcia what he can smoke or not smoke. Stupid stupid stupid. That's how I feel about it, children are way smarter than the timid worry warts leading them, but there have always been traps set set for the innocent so yeah, protect your children from smoking of course. But restrict my rights just because you have a kid, that's gonna explode someday if it gets pushed any further. They've already shut down anything fun like most rock venues and Playland etc., in San Francisco since the people who knew anything about running a landmark city left, and never came back. Fools and fascists with a liberal aagenda who couldn't fix a lamp post let alone solve problems that aren't even problems like what native trees should be allowed to grow here. Totally the wrong people for the wrong job, hello!? Nixon and his regime, corrupt beyond measure, declared the "war on drugs" which merely put a bonnet on the century old hypocracy adding even more labyrinths of useless agencies to the mix whose sole talent besides manhandling ordinary people was to emulate double speak worthy of Kafka and Dostoyevsky's worst nightmare, the ultimate Orwellian freakout. In Disneyland, Orange County! Huxley too, saw it coming... No winners, just losers in this "war" and the biggest loss is that artists and musicians wasted time and their vital creative energy to cop unsafe supplies. Ironically the Grateful Dead were caught between the good bad guys who sold dope for top dollar and the bad good guys who would be laid off if they were actually successful at what they're paid billions to do. Our taxes foot the bill for this sham rather than victories of consequence generating any profit from the war on drugs. Yet the pharmecuetical conglomerates and multinational corporations do make vast sums from the sale and manufacture of watered-down synthetic imitations (legal and very pricey for the citizens to purchase) of natural substances mainly grown by our "worst enemies", or rather, Bush and Cheney's strange bedfellows! Leaves and flowers that any 19th century American apothecary could legally procure and sell ata profit for pennies to adults who knew what they wanted. Potent and in pure pharmaceutical quality these opiates and coca derivitives were of course, potentially dangerous but the solution percentage was cosistant and directions if followed and/or caution was used, as with anything powerful or flammable: briquettes, chainsaws, hammers and electric guitars, safe if used responsibly or certainly not carelessly. Light match and stand back! Take one dose every 30 mins. - that was my morphine allotment after an operation I had 3 years ago... and there was no complications, curiosity perhaps as my readers have noted in the previous posts, but no reason to keep taking generic pain killers when not in pain, for me any way. Such things don't really get you high. Art, music, film, sushi tempora, that's what I crave, and if it's tri[ppy music, and I get a contact high, I did something right.. I tuned in to the artist's performance, creation and got off. Without needles, guns, poolcues weighted with cement, knives or being pulled over for various duis. I don't cause trouble or endanger others. But I'll tell you this, I'm coming back in my next life with 500,000 guys on horseback to set things right. We're gonna ride in and ride 'em out. The return of Garcia's Ghostriders. Ride 'em cowboys! The seventh trump will be played and Jesus, Lord have mercy, it's about damn time. Wave that flag, wave it wide and high. So, if we are able to calm down and ease the pain by feeling a sense of that euphoriapouring from Garcia's magic fingers or Pigpen's whiskey soaked vocal cords, "that's absolutely imperial", as Cavour says to the ET in "The First Men In The Moon" (1964, Ray Harryhausen) I've been inspired by the music of Dick Pick's Vol. 22 and the original mix of Aoxomoxoa, the remastered Anthem of the Sun - except for Aoxo which is op in that preferable format, these 3 are among the finest 1968 Pigpen on the market imho, and I hasten to recommend Birth of the Dead, "Keep Rolling By" is essential rocking Dead with Pigpen & Jerry sharing call and response vocals, I mean, what are you waiting for? And, let's add 1966 Rarities and Oddities to the list of ones to get that are official GD product, imho. to finish writing a corrected version of my solemn statement, given on this 4th of July, 2008. This is my sincere redeclaration of independence. Special mention goes to the Bobby freak-out thread for the link to 1984-03-31, featuring "He's Gone" at it's finest hour of freakiness. signed in hoseradish, soy sauce and beers; yours truly,

R.U.R = Robot. A WORD penned by a Czech in czech that got adopted in English. Karel Capek, a great Czech and close friend of the President of the First Czech Republic Tomas Garigue Masaryk (interesting guy, took his US wife's last name as his middle name back in the 30s ala John Winston Ono whatever).

thanks bluedevil; what's interesting, my students made sure i was aware of the Capek connection to the word "robot", which of course i very much appreciated, not only as a lifelong student of English, but as a fan of science fiction; it goes without saying of course, the Czechs have contributed greatly in so many areas of arts and sciences and sports and thinking, and they are very proud of that fact, for good reason as you know
